We are honored to present the "Gulu University Multifunctional Research Laboratories" as a remarkable project we had the privilege to be a part of. This state-of-the-art research laboratory stands as a testament to innovation and advancement in the field of scientific research.
Project Highlights:
Inauguration and Commissioning: Established in 2018 and commissioned by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on 11th January 2020, the Gulu University Multifunctional Research Laboratories is a monumental achievement in the pursuit of scientific excellence.
Government Funding: The laboratory's creation was made possible through a USD 4.5 million loan from the African Development Bank, with USD 2.5 million allocated for equipment acquisition and USD 2.0 million invested in the construction of the facility.
Purpose and Mission: The primary objective of Gulu University Multifunctional Research Laboratories is to conduct tailored research in science-related fields, with a particular focus on addressing challenges faced by rural communities. By harnessing the power of science, the laboratory contributes significantly to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Research Endeavors: The laboratory is engaged in a multitude of scientific studies, including but not limited to SARS-CoV2, Malaria and Mosquito resistance studies, mycotoxin and food safety, and Nodding syndrome research. This breadth of research areas underscores its commitment to tackling diverse challenges.
Accreditation: Following thorough evaluation by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), the SARS-CoV-2 Laboratory within the facility was officially accredited on January 25th, 2021. This accreditation enables the laboratory to conduct and test for SARS-CoV2, playing a vital role in public health efforts.
